Mason Lake is a private, easy, small lake to either kayak or canoe on. It is right off of NY-30 N, down an unpaved road. There are two picnic tables at the parking lot/ boat launch.

Water, snacks, lunch (if you want)

Shoes that can get wet

Before you leave for the trip, tell someone where and when you are going, and who is going. So in case anything happens they know where to go. But also make sure you sign in in the sign in box.
Make sure to pack enough of everything for for everyone on the trip.
